Mental health and substance abuse services’ open care at health stations

Every health station provides non-urgent mental health and substance abuse services for adults as well as substance abuse services for those under the age of 18. The treatment is free of charge.

Your treatment will involve a nurse, doctor and psychologist. Your situation will mainly be assessed at an appointment with a nurse, and your treatment will also mainly take place at nurse's appointments. Doctor's appointments are agreed with the nurse.

Psychiatric care in specialised medical care

Psychiatric treatment may be required with issues such as psychosis, severe mood disorder, neuropsychiatric disorder or eating disorder.

Psychiatric services include child psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry.

You will need a doctor's referral to psychiatric services and hospital care, except for intensified open care which you can call directly.

The Siun sote psychiatric clinic and psychiatric hospital are located in the North Karelia Central Hospital in connection with other hospital services. The hospital provides 24-hour psychiatric examination, treatment and rehabilitation. The psychiatric outpatient clinics are open on weekdays.

Psychiatric emergency and crises

With urgent mental health issues and in various crisis situations, you can call the intensified psychiatric open care 24 hours a day.

Staff members of the intensified open care make home visits if necessary.
